What I’m Working On This Month (November 2026)

Happy November! Hopefully this month will allow some time for you to pause and catch your breath before the holiday season ramps up. Here are a few things on my November kidmin/next gen ministry to-do list:
Onboarding and meeting with new student leaders
Last month, I shared how we were conducting interviews and placing new student leaders. (You can read that post here.) This month, we’re continuing that process. In addition, I’ll gather all of our current student leaders to check in with them, see what’s working, hear about challenges, and offer tips and reminders about their role. Several of our student leaders have stepped up in leadership, so I want to acknowledge them and offer tips for overall success.
Preparing for Advent
Our senior pastor has finalized this year’s Advent theme, so now we begin the hunt for an Advent devotional to provide to our families. I’ve also begun brainstorming ideas for our family Christmas Eve service. That service is our most-attended Christmas Eve service and it’s a fun one to shape.
Choosing our VBS Theme
By now, we’ve usually selected our VBS theme, but this year, our team is torn between two very viable options. I believe we’ve narrowed it down but we’ll make a final decision in the next week or so. Once we decide, we’ll preorder our kit and await its arrival!
December curriculum edits
I have 3 more November lessons to edit before I begin working on December’s. I’d LOVE to have December edits completed before Thanksgiving because I’ll be taking some time of at the end of the month.
Now it’s your turn…what are you working on this month? Have you begun holiday planning or are you ahead of the game?
